Opening field dayis this Saturday
Opening day activiites for the Londonderry Athletic and Field Association are set for April 20.
A baseball and softball parade takes place featuring teams marching to the fields. Be at the Londonderry High School parking lot by 7:30 a.m.
All teams should make a team sign with their name and be dressed in uniform.
Cakeless bake sale planned April 27
The Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library host the sixth annual Cakeless Bake Sale beginning April 27.
Friends will ask for a donation, but not cakes or cookies. Figure out how much you might spend to bake a cake and what ingredients might cost, and send a donation for that amount to support the library.
All funds will be used to sponsor library programs and services.
Donations can be sent to “Friends of the Leach Library” at 276 Mammoth Road or place a donation in the box at the library.
Calling all anglers May 5
The Londonderry Fish and Game Club hosts its 30th annual free children’s fishing derby on May 5 from 8 a.m. to noon at the club’s facility in Londonderry. The event is held rain or shine.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with fishing action starting at 9 a.m.
The derby is open to young anglers ages 14 and under, accompanied by an adult. Both Fish and Game Club and the state stock the pond before the derby with various types of fish.
Refreshments will be available and prizes will be awarded. Bring your own worms and tackle. The club is accessed off 5 Lund St. in Litchfield. Directions are available at londonderryfishandgameclub.com.
Yoga for seniors starts
The Londonderry Senior Center and Greater Londonderry YMCA offer yoga classes to the senior community.
Barbara Scott and Lisa Kress will conduct an eight-week series of affordably priced yoga classes, which are designed especially for 55-and-older individuals to help increase flexibility and strength, as well as maintaining well-being.
