LONDONDERRY — It was a day to honor those that served.
Area veterans had an opportunity to gather and celebrate their service.
Londonderry Fish and Game along with Concerned Veterans for America hosted a “Thank A Vet” barbecue May 29 at the Fish and Game club in Litchfield.
A special guest speaker at the barbecue was Gold Star Mother Karen Vaughn who lost her Navy SEAL son Aaron during his military service in Afghanistan in 2011.
Vaughn now serves as a military/Gold Star family liaison and speaker with Concerned Veterans for America.
She went on later that day to speak in Derry for another veterans’ celebration.
Concerned Veterans for America state director Roger Wilkins said the day was an opportunity to celebrate veterans and their sacrifices.
