Library readies for summer reading program

Leach Library has busy summer planned

LONDONDERRY — Leach Library is getting ready for a summer full of reading programs and special activities for children and adults.

The library on Mammoth Road will offer its annual summer children’s program with the theme “Fizz, Boom, Read!”

The program is open to all children up to grade 6.

After registration, children will receive a packet with calendars and program information. The program begins in June.

Some highlights this summer include “A Visit With Corduroy” June 24-26 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Weekly activities include Guess It and trivia contests, Craft Time Thursdays, and a Saturday scavenger hunt.

Special programs on the calendar are Entomology, Oceanology Book Bingo, Gone Fishing, Elements of Surprise—Animal Defenses, Robotics, Motion Man, and On Safari with Annie.

The summer program for children winds down with Polar Worlds on Aug. 11; All Aboard Trains on Aug. 12 and Bubbleology on Aug. 13.

For young adults, the summer program includes the program “Spark A Reaction.” Explore new worlds and sign up beginning June 2. There will be Thursday meetings at 6 p.m., movie nights, raffles and prizes.

Participants will also earn prizes for the number of books read this summer.

For adults, the summer schedule offers games and prizes for books read. Gift certificates will be raffled off and the person reading the most books could win a grand prize gift basket.

There will be monthly topics and themes to win prizes.
