LONDONDERRY — Veterans will be honored with a special day.
On May 29, veterans are invited to a “Thank A Vet BBQ” at the Londonderry Fish and Game Club, 5 Lund St., Litchfield, and hosted by the Concerned Veterans for America organization.
The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include Gold Star mothers, who will address veterans and guests in attendance.
Karen Vaughan and Natalie Healy, both mothers who lost their Navy SEAL sons during military conflict, will be featured guests and speakers.
Aaron Vaughan and Dan Healy were both killed while serving overseas in 2011 and 2005, respectively.
Concerned Veterans for America state director Roger Wilkins said the day will be an opportunity to celebrate veterans and their sacrifices.
“And we are very pleased to have Karen and Natalie speak,” Wilkins said.
All veterans, spouses, guests, community members and supporters are invited to attend the event.
Wilkins said his group is new, formed only in January. The veterans event is something he said is important.
Later that same day, Derry will be celebrating area veterans with its own annual veterans barbecue. Vaughan and Healy will also be special guests at that event.
There is no cost to attend.
“We just want to celebrate veterans,” Wilkins said.
All are invited to attend, but asked to RSVP to Wilkins at 703-5116 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
