‘Once Upon A Mattress’

Matthew Thornton Elementary School’ Drama Club presents the musical “Once Upon a Mattress” April 23 and 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the school on Mammoth Road.

The play is presented by a cast taking on the roles of the famed Princess Winnifred and Prince Dauntless the Drab. The production features full costumes and songs.

Tickets are $5 for children and students, $8 for adults in advance; $5 for chidlren and students, $10 for adults at the door.

Get rid of household hazardous waste

Londonderry and Derry residents can participate in a spring household hazardous waste collection event May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at West Running Brook Middle School.

Many toxic materials can be brought to the collection, including fertilizers, insect spray, pesticides, pool chemicals, antifreeze, gasoline, household cleaners, corrosives and solvents. Items not accepted include automotive or alkaline batteries, latex paints, explosives, used oil or infectious waste.

Federal grant funds station generator

The town is getting a $26,350 grant through the state to pay for a generator at the Central Fire Station.

Gov. Maggie Hassan and the Executive Council recently approved the grant, which is federally funded.

The station houses emergency communications and the generator will be used during power outages.
