LONDONDERRY — The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce paid a visit to the Town Council last week.
It was a way to introduce key Chamber players and offer resources and information to help businesses in town.
Chamber executive director Stacey Bruzzese and board of directors president Bill Parnell spoke to councilors about what the Chamber offered and how it could help Londonderry’s business community.
It’s all an effort to make the Chamber better known in town.
“We have a renewed focus on Londonderry,” Parnell said.
Right now, the Chamber has upward of 260 members from Derry, Londonderry, Manchester, Windham, Auburn, Atkinson, Hampstead and Chester.
In 2006, the Chamber added Londonderry to its name to better reflect its business service area.
The group works with towns on economic development projects and community issues.
Bruzzese came on board to lead the Chamber last year, taking on a full-time position and making the Chamber more of a full-time entity to aid local businesses while providing valuable information.
“We went from a part-time director to a full-time Chamber,” Parnell said. “It hasn’t been an easy road, but we’ve accomplished that.”
That change included putting more of a focus on Londonderry and its business community.
“We’re available as a resource,” Parnell said. “We take great pride in doing that.”
The Chamber has offered workshops and seminars to local business owners that deal with topics like finances, grants, and email marketing tools.
Bruzzese said the Chamber hopes to do more.
“We heard from business owners, (sharing a need) for our organization to be here,” she said.
Bruzzese said right now the Chamber hosts a regular Londonderry business consortium schedule every month at Coffeeberries at Apple Tree Mall — all part of the effort to build relationships in town.
“We want to be well represented in Londonderry, to be better connected,” she said. “We are hoping to do even more.”
