Londonderry officials prepare to pick new leader

By Julie Huss

---- — LONDONDERRY — The town could have a new town manager named by next month.

At the Town Council meeting Monday, acting Town Manager/police Chief Bill Hart said the final interviews were being concluded and if all background checks are in order a new leader could be named by Aug. 19.

Hart has handled the role of manager since last July after previous town manager David Caron left the job.

The process to choose a new leader has taken a year.

In February, the Town Council picked a top candidate from a first round of applicants, but that person declined the job.

The job was advertised again and a new process began.

Another vacancy in town will be filled soon, too.

Hart said a final decision was recently made on someone to fill the Senior Affairs Director job. That will also be announced next month if all goes according to plan, he said.

Another department in town will also get new faces.

Hart announced two new replacement police officers will take jobs in the department. Both are certified officers.

“We are in the final process,” he said.
