Leach Library closed July 4

Leach Library will be closed July 4 to observe the holiday.

The library is currently offering a full schedule of summer reading programs for all ages. For information call 432-1127.

Summer playground program begins

The 2014 recreation summer playground schedule begins July 7 with five weeks full of special events, crafts, games and much more.

The program is held at South Elementary School. Children entering first grade this fall up through 14 years of age can participate. Children will be grouped by age and are supervised in small groups by experienced staff.

There is no pre-registration for the program, but parents may register their children the first day of attendance. Program hours are program are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The cost of the program is $40 per child, $50 for two children in the same family and $60 for three or more children in the same family.

Concerts on the Common continue

The free summer Concerts on the Common series continues July 9 with a performance by Evan Goodrow.

The show begins at 7 p.m. on the Common bandstand. In case of rain, the concert is moved indoors to the Londonderry High School cafeteria.

Free lunches served Wednesday

The Greater Derry Salvation Army has expanded its free summer lunch program to Londonderry.

The program offers lunches in Londonderry for those 18 and under every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Woodland Apartments, South Road. Lunches are served rain or shine.

The program runs through Aug. 20. Call 434-7790 for information.

Learn about animals’ self defense

Leach Library presents “The Element of Surprise—Animal Defenses Wednesday, July 9, from 11 a.m. to noon.

The program features Mona Headen and her Critters ‘N Creatures program. Children will learn all about how animals stay safe in nature.

Registration is required by calling 432-1127 or stop by the library’s Children’s Room to sign up.
