Talking turkey

It’s only June, but perhaps some people may be talking turkey after driving by Derry Feed and Supply these days.

The local business has a flock of fuzzy baby turkeys for sale and the store’s exterior sign may say it all. Just don’t tell the turkeys.

“Baby turkeys are here. Think Thanksgiving!” the sign reads.

The need for speed

Ernest P. Barka elementary students paid a visit to a recent meeting of the Derry School Board to show off some of their skills with speed cup stacking, using their fast hands and agile minds to create intricate stacks of plastic cups in the quickest time possible.

After the demonstration, board members were impressed.

“I just want to know if you can unload the dishwasher that fast?” board member Jen Lague asked one student.

They got the beets

One local business was giving sage advice when it displayed a message just in time for the summer garden season.

“Let’s have a party,” the sign at Benson’s in Londonderry said. “Lettuce turnip the beet.”

Birthday or the car?

A red convertible spotted on Interstate 93 this week sported the vanity plate “APRFOOL.”

We’re not sure whether the owner was born April 1 or made an impulsive purchase on that date.
