---- — LONDONDERRY — Budget season is underway in town and departments continue to give early details on next year’s numbers.
The Budget Committee is hearing information for fiscal year 2015. The budget calendar is filling up with public hearings and presentations en route to the 2014 deliberative session and final vote at the polls in March.
Town Manager Kevin Smith said he has been on the job only two months, but is delving deep into the town’s budget process.
He came before the Budget Committee last week.
“I’m looking forward to working with all of you through the budget process,” Smith said.
He said he is working with all town departments and will give a final budget presentation to the Town Council at a meeting Nov. 4.
The council will hold a budget workshop on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 8 a.m. in the Moose Hill Council Chambers. Another budget discussion follows on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. and a third Nov. 25 at 7 p.m., both in Council Chambers.
A school budget presentation is set for Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. in Moose Hill Council Chambers.
When both town and school deliberative sessions roll around in February, voters will have a chance to do double duty in one weekend.
The school will meet on Feb. 7 with the town’s session the following day, Feb. 8, at 9 a.m.
Officials said this move is a good way to get major voting meetings planned in close proximity to each other to lessen the work of setting up the Londonderry High School cafeteria on separate weekends.
There are several capital improvement projects in the pipeline for both school and town, including school renovations and improvements to the Central Fire Station on Mammoth Road.
