During the February vacation week, Venture Scouts from Crew 570 in Derry enjoyed an exciting opportunity to see the inner workings of the Derry Community TV station.
During the month of February, the Venture Crew has been exploring Filmography/Videography and careers that go with this topic.
Kimberley Hass, reporter and video producer for Derry Community TV, hosted a detailed tour of the station and gave the Scouts lots of information as to what type of training they would need if they were interested in this career.
Hass introduced the Scouts to the inner workings of the station and provided lots of information on all aspects of the TV station and how they can become involved as volunteers.
Venturing is a co-ed youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 13 and have completed the eighth grade, or age 14 through 20 years of age.
Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders and organizations in their communities.
Local community organizations establish a Venturing crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills and become good citizens.
