---- — LONDONDERRY — While fall and winter will soon bring darker days, residents can look forward to Electricity New Hampshire for a new power supplier.
Public Service of New Hampshire will still handle the power lines and technical aspects of delivering power, but Electricity New Hampshire of Portsmouth will be running its power through local lines.
Prices from the new power company are about 2 percent lower than PSNH prices, due to the fact that Electricity New Hampshire purchases its power a year in advance. Seasonal use of electricity will not affect the prices, Electricity New Hampshire representative Deborah Crowley said.
“Our blackouts in this area are sort of famous,” Town Council Chairman John Farrell said.
Town officials have started to search for a local power company, in order to make the power needs of the residents more manageable.
Some residents already have the service and are very pleased with the results.
“I’ve been using them for some time now, and the service is great,” Pauline Carron said.
The power company is owned by Provider Power, based in Auburn, Maine. The parent company also buys power one year in advance, and owns similar companies in the power wholesale business around New England.
“Whether you are hooking up Christmas lights or the hot tub, your prices will stay the same,” Crowley said.
Although Electricity New Hampshire will be supplying the power, citizens will still have to contact PSNH when they have any power problems.
