Town has

safety concerns

During a Planning Board meeting last week, board members agreed to send a letter to the state Department of Transportation about safety issues near the intersection of Route 102 and Interstate 93.

Initially, board members wanted a median placed near the intersection, to prevent drivers from crossing four lanes of traffic. The first set of plans for the widening of I-93 did have a median, but current plans show that it has been removed.

After some deliberation, board members agreed to send a letter to the DOT notifying them of their safety concerns. No median was requested and board members are still concerned about the area and high rate of car accidents.

Board Chairman Arthur Rugg agreed with the decision, saying “iI’s best not to step on anyone’s toes.”
