Car seat checkup event set for Sept. 21
The Londonderry Child Passenger Safety Program hosts a car seat checkup event on Sept. 21 from noon to 3 p.m. at Matthew Thornton Elementary School, 275 Mammoth Road.
Certified technicians will be on site to inspect car seats for proper installation. There will also be information available on the revised Booster Seat Law that takes place in January 2014.

Elder Affairs hosts program on Sept. 25
The Elder Affairs Committee, as part of its family education series,hosts a workshop at Leach Library on Sept. 25 from 6 to 7 p.m.
This workshop will introduce the Veteran Community Partnership and provide an overview of the programs and services available through the VA for veterans and their families.
The workshop is conducted by Veteran Community Partnership Community co-chairman Bonnie Roberts and a representative of the Veterans Benefits Administration.
Trail construction has already started
Londonderry Trailways announces that engineering and construction plans for a one-mile segment of trail from Exit 5 Park and Ride to the North School Elementary School parking lot has started.
The project begins with engineering studies and then paving prep work and eventually asphalt work will be done.
The completion date is Nov. 15, with a ribbon-cutting scheduled for Nov. 24. During construction, this portion of the town’s trail system is closed.
Trailways offers guided trail walks of the town’s Peat Bog section led by John Daley, Trailways board member, on Sept. 29 and Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. Visit londonderrytrailways.org for information and photos of the paving progress.
