LONDONDERRY — Calling all chili chefs to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
The church wants everyone who has a great chili recipe to enter a charity chili cook-off event on March 9 at the church, 1 Peabody Row.
This is the first time the church has hosted the chili contest. Proceeds will support the Greater Manchester Habitat for Humanity.
The contest is set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. It will include 25 teams of cooks facing off for bragging rights for having the best chili recipe.
Members of the public also are invited to enter a favorite chili for the event.
Registration begins the day of the event at 4:15 p.m.
For those who don’t cook chili, but love to eat it, for a $10 donation, people can sample all types of chili while enjoying country and western entertainment. Children under 10 can eat for $5.
Visitors are urged to vote for their favorite chili for the People’s Choice Award. Awards also will be given for best overall chili recipe as determined by a panel of judges. Children will be able to choose their favorite.
Proceeds benefit the Greater Manchester Habitat for Humanity, working in partnership with local people and businesses to help people by building and renovating homes.
