Kids, leach Library has something for you

LONDONDERRY — The Leach Library Children’s Room has a lot going on this month.

The library will be hosting its annual Halloween celebrations on Monday, Oct. 21, and Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. with Big Ryan’s Tall Tales.

Youngsters who wish to may participate in a costume parade beginning at 4:15 p.m. each day.

During the programs, Big Ryan will entertain participants with a collection of spooky, but not too scary, stories. Big Ryan will use music, puppets and lots of humor to recount these stories that have as many laughs as they do chills and thrills.

All children attending the programs will receive a trick-or-treat bag filled with prizes, activities and a simple craft. These programs are open to all ages, and space is limited to 90 people for each session. These programs are being sponsored by the Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library.

Children can start reading in preparation for voting next month. The library is participating in the Ladybug Award voting this year.

Each year, librarians from around the state nominate 10 outstanding picture books to be voted on by the children of New Hampshire. Students in preschool through grade 3 can vote on their favorite book from the list of nominated titles.

The books will be on display this month and next. Voting will take place in November. Stop by and read one of the titles and be ready to cast your vote.

The Children’s Room will be offering the following programs as part of Fall Session 2: Story Time, Shake, Move & Read, and Toddler Time. Fall Session 2 will run Oct. 30 through Nov. 21.

Advance registration is required and begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21. To register, call 432-1127 or stop by the Children’s Room.

Reminder: If you were on the waiting list for Fall Session 1, you will automatically be entered in Fall Session 2. If you were in Fall Session 1, you must wait until Tuesday, Oct. 22 to register. Parents may register a maximum of five children per program at once.
