Londonderry Council has new chairman

LONDONDERRY — The Town Council has named its new leader.

Councilor Tom Dolan will take the reins as the Town Council’s new chairman.

The unanimous vote came at the council’s meeting March 20.

Dolan takes the lead following a two-year run for John Farrell as council leader.

“I thank John Farrell for leading the council the last two years and negotiating our way through a couple of very difficult years,” Dolan said.

Those years saw many personnel changes, including fire chief and town manager, Dolan said.

There were also many tough legal challenges during Farrell’s tenure as chairman, Dolan said, including difficult impact fee situations in town.

Farrell was publicly acknowledged by those in attendance and received much applause.

In addition to Dolan’s appointment, Town Councilor Jim Butler was named the vice chairman.

Councilors will make other appointments and liaison assignments to town committees and boards at their next meeting.
