LONDONDERRY | The Londonderry High School Math Team took first place in the 35th annual New Hampshire State Mathematics Competition on March 23 at Plymouth State University. The team received first place in the 14-member school division and also finished first out of 52 schools.
Leading the way for the newly crowned state champions with near perfect scores | eight of nine correct for 32 points | were seniors Matt MacDonald and Sean Morin, junior Ross Daly and freshman Jenny Heffernan. Scoring 28 points with seven of nine correct answers were seniors Jake Delew and Nate Jellis and juniors Gregor Stocks and Alex Walker. Junior Matt Gilzing earned 24 points and freshman Jess Fang scored 20 points.
The math team, coached by math teacher Mike Wenger, will represent New Hampshire at the New England Mathematics Competition on April 28 in Canton, Mass.
