---- — Yoga begins for seniors

The Londonderry Senior Center and Greater Londonderry YMCA host yoga classes for the senior community.

Barbara Scott and Lisa Kress will lead the eight-week series of affordable classes designed especially for those 55 and older. Classes will focus on flexibility and strength as well as helping maintain well being. Sign up for Tuesday or Thursday classes or both. New sessions begin the week of Dec. 31 and are held from 9 to 10 a.m. at the YMCA, 106 Rockingham Road.

Lions Hall hosting seniors

Seniors in town continue to hold programs at the Londonderry Lions Hall, 256 Mammoth Road, while their center is being renovated and improved.

Senior programs through December include fitness, music, games and much more. The seniors will meet through Dec.24 and will then close programs until they return to the senior center on Jan. 2.

Library hosts Vatican event

Leach Library hosts “Treasures of the Vatican” on Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. The program features Dr. Andrew Laurie Stangel, who will offer a narrated guided tour through one of the world’s greatest collections of art.

Stangel is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate, graduate of UCLA and professor of art at the University of New Hampshire.

He has lectured all over the United States and Europe. He created and directed the Art History Tours for the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held in the library’s lower level meeting room.

Londonderry Democrats host holiday brunch

The Londonderry Democratic Committee announced speakers for its annual Holiday Homecoming brunch and silent auction on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at The Coach Stop restaurant.

Speakers will include Congresswoman Carol Shea Porter, Executive Council member Chris Pappas, Rep. Lisa Whittemore, and N.H. Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley.

Help fight breast cancer

The Londonderry Lancers and Manchester Monarchs are teaming up to help fight breast cancer.

Purchase “Pink in the Rink” night tickets for the Monarchs game Feb. 8 and support the cause. Tickets are available for Silver and Gold seats at $20 and $25, respectively.
