---- — World War II pilot to speak at Aviation Museum
The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire presents Col. Robert Fortnam, a U.S. World War II pilot and POW who will speak at the museum March 8 at 11 a.m.
Fortnam was flying his B-17 when he was shot down by enemy fire. He was captured by German soldiers and spent 16 months as a prisoner of war.
Seating for the program is limited and included in the price of museum admission. The museum is located at 27 Navigator Road. Visit nhahs.org.
Lions to host comedy night
The Londonderry Lions Club hosts a comedy night event March 15 at 8 p.m. at the club on Mammoth Road. The show features comedians P.J. Walsh and Chris Pennie.
Proceeds from the show go to support Lions Club charities including high school scholarships, eye care and hearing aid assistance. The night includes refreshments and raffles.
Tickets for the show are $20. This is a BYOB event. Seating is limited to 150 and tickets will be sold in advance or at the door if available. Call Gary Smith at 845-8416 for information.
Leach Library hosts Avian Adventures
Leach Library hosts a visit from New Hampshire Audubon officials, who will present an Avian Adventures program March 10 from 4 to 5 p.m.
Children will have a chance to learn all about birds and how they fly. A live raptor including a barred owl, falcon or red-tailed hawk may make an appearance. Advance registration is required. Call 432-1127 or stop by the Children’s Room.
Zoning Board seeks members
The town seeks volunteers to serve on the Zoning Board. There are currently vacancies for full members and alternates.
The board meets every third Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Moose Hill Council Chambers. Call 432-1100, Ext. 120, or stop by the town offices on Mammoth Road.
Post 27 has a month of events
American Legion Post 27, 6 Sargent Road, has many events planned. On March 10, it’s the monthly general meeting at 7:30 pm. E-Board Elections will be held. On March 15, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Jigger Knot. There will be food and raffles from 6 p.m. to closing.

All things crocodile at Leach
Leach Library hosts Crocodile Rock, all things crocodile for children, March 24 from 4 to 5p .m. The program will give children a chance to hear stories about alligators and crocodiles and then learn how to dance the “crocodile rock.”
Children will leave the library with their own foam alligator visor. Advance registration is required by calling 432-1127 or stop by the Children’s Room.
Hazardous waste collection set
Residents of Londonderry and Derry can participate in a household hazardous waste collection event May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at West Running Brook Middle School in Derry. Materials including pesticides, cleaners, photo chemicals, poisons, pool chemicals, solvents, antifreeze, gasoline, oil-based paints, thinners and driveway sealer are among the items accepted. Items not accepted include batteries, latex paints, explosives, ammunition, used oil or infectious waste.
