LONDONDERRY — Once again, Superintendent Nate Greenberg is featured in an industry magazine.
Greenberg was profiled in this month's edition of The School Administrator, in an article titled "The Top Shelf Pick of Librarians" by editor Jay P. Goldman. The piece recognized Greenberg for his work with the Londonderry school district's educational media centers.
The monthly magazine of school system leaders is published by the American Association of School Administrators, and this issue will circulate to 22,000 individuals in school administration, including every superintendent nationwide.
Greenberg was recommended as a potential subject by the New Hampshire School Administrator's Association, and the editors at "The School Administrator" agreed that his management style and accomplishments were something its readers would benefit from learning about.
Just one year ago, Greenberg made the cover of a national magazine when he was named Administrator of the Year by "School Library Journal."
The cover shot showed Greenberg tossing an apple into the air under the headline "Nate the Great."
When Greenberg came to Londonderry in 2000, he was asked to turn the 5,349-student district into a laboratory for a national study of "action research" in school libraries.
Action research promotes collaboration among teachers in finding ways to solve everyday problems, and look for ways to improve instruction and boost student achievement.
In Londonderry, these action research projects have included getting high school students to use the district's databases, instead of immediately resorting to Google, and teaching online ethics to fifth-graders, according to the magazine, which said the research shows how children learn.
