LHS grad represents N.H. at national science camp

Schenkelberg joined 115 other top science students from across the nation and around the world for this acclaimed science leadership program.

LONDONDERRY — Christian Schenkelberg, a 2008 graduate of Londonderry High School, represented New Hampshire at the National Youth Science Camp this summer from June 29 to July 26.

Schenkelberg joined 115 other top science students from across the nation and around the world for this acclaimed science leadership program.

Now in its 45th year, the National Youth Science Camp is a four-week, all-expenses-paid program created to honor and encourage future science leaders. The camp is in the rustic setting of Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. The camp integrates scientific programming with opportunities for delegates to explore music, art and the outdoors.

Delegates learned about groundbreaking scientific research and explored the natural beauty of West Virginia through the camp's extensive outdoor program. Delegates were challenged physically and mentally through hiking, kayaking, caving, mountain biking and rock climbing. As part of a three-day tour of Washington, D.C., delegates met with many lawmakers at the Senate luncheon hosted by U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va.
