LONDONDERRY — The deadline approaches for this summer's Miss Londonderry Scholarship program.
The annual program, an official preliminary to the Miss America Scholarship Program, is set for Aug. 9 at the Londonderry Middle School.
The winner of the competition goes on to compete next spring in the Miss New Hampshire event.
Miss Londonderry is open to women, ages 17-24, who reside, work full time, or attend school full time in Londonderry or any contiguous town, including Hudson, Derry, Litchfield, Auburn, Manchester or Windham. Contestants will compete in five phases of competition — private interview, talent, lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit, evening wear, and casual wear.
The Miss America organization is the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for women in the world, providing over $45 million in scholarships last year. Through the support of the Londonderry Lions Club and other businesses and individuals, Miss Londonderry is able to contribute to this fund and help young women further their educational goals.
The deadline to enter the competition is Aug. 3. Any interested contestant or those wishing to volunteer with the program, can contact program directors Jamie Conley Gregoire or Catherine Dennehy at misslondonderry@aol.com, or visit Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program online at www.missnh.com.
