Londonderry school enrollment is down

LONDONDERRY — Students returned to school Thursday, Aug. 26. The total current enrollment is 4,986 ,compared with 5,162 in October 2009.

"Of course, numbers will continue to change — up, down and sideways for the next several weeks," superintendent Nate Greenberg said.

Projected enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year is expected to be 5,040, with the most numbers changing in the Londonderry Early Education Program and Moose Hill School.

As of Monday, there were 1,744 students at Londonderry High School and 1,744 at Londonderry Middle School.

At the elementary level, there were 555 students at South Londonderry Elementary School, 636 at Matthew Thornton and 536 at North Londonderry Elementary School. Ninety children were present in LEEP and 258 at Moose Hill.

There are also 19 out-of-district placements.
