Londonderry welcomes new senior affairs director

LONDONDERRY — The senior center has a familiar face as its new leader.

Stacy Thrall was approved for the senior affairs director job at a Town Council meeting Feb. 11.

She replaces Kimberly Bean, who resigned last fall.

For Thrall, it’s almost like being home.

She once served the senior center as its outreach coordinator, then went on to start an adult daycare facility, Here on Earth, in Londonderry.

Thrall also heads up the town’s Senior Affairs Committee. She said she is committed to working with seniors at the center, their programs and activities.

A hiring committee comprised narrowed the field of applicants and decided Thrall was the best choice.

Town Councilor Joe Green said Thrall was the top pick.

“I thank her for stepping up,” he said. “She couldn’t be a more perfect pick for this position.”

Thrall said she is excited to get started in her new role.

Gladys Frederick, along with previous senior center director Sara Landry, opened the town’s senior center in 2003 with only a handful of residents attending each day.

Now, more than 50 seniors are there on any given day, enjoying meals, games, fitness and exercise, technology training and health screenings.

Membership stands at about 450.
