Christmas Eve Services
Below is a partial list of the Christmas Eve Services being offered by local churches on Thursday, Dec. 24.
Chester Congregational Church Christmas Eve Services, 5 p.m. Family Lessons and Carols Candlelight Service; 11 p.m. Lessons and Carols Candlelight Service with Communion. Located at 4 Chester St., Chester. Call 887-4799 or visit www.chesterchurch.org.
First Parish Church Christmas Eve, at 4:30 p.m. there will be a child-friendly service with children's choirs, lessons and carols. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a traditional service with lessons, choirs and candle lighting. At 11 p.m., the service feature lessons and carols with candle lighting. Londonderry United Methodist Church Christmas Eve services, 5, 7, 9, 11 p.m. Located at 258 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Call 432-7083 or visit www.londonderryumc.org.
Londonderry Christian Church Christmas Eve Candlelight Services, at 5 and 11 p.m. Each service will incorporate music, scripture reading , a brief message and candle lighting as we tell the story of Jesus' birth. Located at 372 mammoth Road, Londonderry. For more information call 432-4630.
Orchard Christian Fellowship Christmas Eve service, at 7 p.m. at the Matthew Thornton Elementary School 275 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. This special service at The Orchard will be a great time of worship, with familiar hymns and carols being sung by the congregation as we celebrate the Central Character of Christmas - Jesus Christ! Special music and a wonderful interpretive dance presented by members of The Orchard will complete this evening of celebration. For more information go to www.orchardnh.org or call 425-6231.
St. Peter's Episcopal Church two liturgies of Holy Eucharist, 5 p.m., and a festival Holy Eucharist with Choir at 10 p.m. The church is at the corner of Mammoth Road and Peabody Row in Londonderry.

After the Londonderry Charter Commission voted 6-3 to go ahead with putting a question to voters in 2011 about changing from Town Meeting to ballot voting, Commissioner Steve Young, who was one of the three nays, said, "This is the day the music died." -
Londonderry voters to decide future of Town Meeting
Voters will decide in March whether to break with tradition and move to ballot-style voting. If they opt for the change, it would take effect in 2012 and Town Meeting would be history in Londonderry.

Woman celebrates 109th birthday
Derry's oldest resident was pretty in pink when she celebrated a milestone birthday Monday. Catherine Dion turned 109 on July 26 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, where she is a resident.
