Three hurt in Londonderry crash
LONDONDERRY — Three people were rushed to area hospitals Wednesday afternoon after a three-car crash at the intersection of Route 102 and High Range Road.
The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. as two of the cars collided in the heavy rain, causing a third vehicle to be struck, police and fire officials said.
Although full details on how the accident occurred were not available last night, a silver Bonneville driven by Theophile Lecomte, 18, of Chester and yellow Cougar driven by Rachel Robson, 18, of Londonderry crashed, sending the Cougar into a ditch, according to police Lt. Bob Michaud.
Both Lecomte and Robson were taken by ambulance to Parkland Medical Center in Derry, where they were treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.
An unidentified passenger in Robson's car, believed to have a broken leg, was taken to Elliot Hospital, fire Capt. Darren O'Brien said. That person's medical condition was not available last night. Extrication tools were needed to pry open the smashed Cougar, authorities said.
The impact of the collision led to the third vehicle, a black Cadillac driven by Nancy Cappiello, 49, of Londonderry, being hit, Michaud said. She was not injured.
Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash, Michaud said. Rescue officials from both Londonderry and Derry responded to the accident.
