Doggone it, BYOB

Fans of the Derry Dog Park may be doing a BYOB effort soon. That’s “Bring Your Own Bags.”

According to the park’s Facebook page, a lack of dog bags could cause a stink due to some budget woes.

Visitors should bring their own bags to the park to help keep Fido’s fun area clean.

Into the sunset

Londonderry Police Chief Bill Hart, nursing an injured foot recently, told town councilors last week he appreciated all the support he received while serving double duty as both police chief and acting town manager.

With new manager Kevin Smith now on board, Hart thanked the town and its people for all their help.

“With that, I’ll hobble off into the sunset,” Hart said.

Another word for ...

How about “thesaurus?” The Water’s Edge salon in Derry offered a back-to-school inspired message on his outdoor sign recently.

Obviously, it was an effort to get students thinking about all the great new words they will learn this year. The message read: “What’s another word for thesaurus?”

Good as gold

Londonderry seniors are enjoying weekly singing sessions at the senior center on Mammoth Road.

Enjoying life in their “golden” years has also put a silver touch on things as a new singing group rehearses every Friday afternoon — The Silver Notes Chorus.

Back to the grind

Derry Planning Board Chairman David Granese had to field some less-than-desirable comments from the audience at last week’s meeting following a controversial approval of a Dumpster Depot plan.

Neighbors have battled the plan for months and let officials know how they felt — shouting angrily at the officials following the vote.

“And I had to come back from vacation for this?” Granese asked. “And I don’t get paid.”
