LONDONDERRY — It was a close race at the polls, but Democratic candidate Christopher Pappas of Manchester pulled ahead to win the District 4 Executive Council seat over Republican Robert Burns.
Pappas had a close struggle with Burns for the Executive Council seat.
Preliminary results show Pappas received 43,062 votes and Burns 39,178.
Burns called to concede early Wednesday morning, according to Huck Montgomery, Pappas’s campaign manager.
Although Burns received the endorsement of Raymond Wieczorek, former executive councilor and mayor of Manchester, he did not manage to win the seat over Pappas.
Wieczorek did not seek re-election.
According to Huck Montgomery, Pappas’s campaign manager, Burns called to concede early Wednesday morning.
Burns said GOP gubernatorial candidate Ovide Lamontagne and presidential candidate Mitt Romney also lost.
“Misery loves company,” he said.
District 4 includes Auburn, Bedford, Candia, Derry, Hooksett, Hudson, Litchfield, Londonderry, Manchester, Pelham and Raymond.
“It’s over and done with,” Montgomery said.
