LONDONDERRY — They are hooked on the classics.
There’s a shiny red 1979 Corvette that an owner wanted matched specifically to Dorothy’s ruby slippers in “The Wizard of Oz.”
A 1969 Dodge Charger sits nearby, waiting for its time to shine.
These are the classics that are part of a daily routine for the crew at Classic Revival Garage in Londonderry.
The Hillside Avenue business has been open about a year and caters to those who love their cars.
The garage is owned by Kevin Grimm and Jason Schuerhoff, both with classic cars running through their veins and both with their own personal favorites.
It’s a job that’s rewarding and something they love.
Grimm has worked in the industry for more than 30 years, growing up around cars and finding a passion for those who traveled the roads decades ago.
He said the garage sees customers from all over the world, those drivers who are holding on to a special car or trying to restore one they bought that reminded them of a special time in their life.
It’s a popular industry right now, they said. It’s also the season when communities will roll out classic car shows on warm summer nights.
“Those television shows also help,” Grimm said. “People start seeing the value and are leaning back toward the older cars.”
Some owners come to the garage with specific details for a small job. Sometimes, the job grows into a more extensive restoration project.
ClassicallyThat includes the woman with the red Corvette.
“Her parents had passed away and she always wanted a 1979 Corvette,” Grimm said.
The owner asked Classic Revival to create a custom color that matched Dorothy’s ruby slippers.
That type of personalized custom look is common.
“There is a story behind every one,” Schuerhoff said.
