Baby on board

A new edition came into a family earlier than expected when a new mother gave birth in a car near the intersection of Kimball Road and Coventry Lane.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, the couple called the Londonderry Police Department to let them know they would not be able to make it to the hospital.

“Most people usually make it to the hospital,” Londonderry police Lt. Tim Jones said. “I’ve never heard of anything like it.”

The Londonderry Fire Department then sent out an ambulance and fire engines to assist the new parents.

The mom and her newborn baby were taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester and are doing just fine, fire Chief Kevin MacCaffrie said.

“We’ve had a couple near deliveries, but since my time in Londonderry, this is a first,” MacCaffrie said.

Don Ball Park’s a splash

Not only do local residents love the Don Ball Park Splashpad on a hot summer day, many others from around the state are heralding its wet and wild fun.

Town Administrator John Anderson said the park was recently listed on one state survey as a top location for warm weather fun.

“The Splashpad was listed higher than Hampton Beach,” Anderson said. “You see the joy on a kid’s face when it’s 100 degrees outside. It’s a great resource.”

The park is located at 14 Humphrey Road.

A true Diva

During an evacuation at The Nevins for a gas leak last week, one resident made sure her dog was first priority.

Anne Violanti clutched her precious pooch tightly after being ordered to evacuate, along with other residents.

The dog, named Diva, seemed to be in good health.

Diva was wearing a dress to match her owner’s.
