Garden club to meet

The Derry Garden Club meets Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. at the Massabesic Audubon Center in Auburn.

Club members will host a business meeting and the program “Gardening With Children” follows.

The program is led by Julia Steed Mawson, of the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension. Members should bring a box lunch. The public is invited to attend. For information, call 432-7195 or visit derrygardenclub.org.

Birch Heights offers senior moments

Birch Heights independent senior living community offers a full schedule this summer of activities for its residents and area seniors. All programs are free.

Upcoming events include: hearing aid education and screenings, Aug. 1, 9:30 a.m.; Horse racing social, Aug. 3, 2 p.m.; Beach Bingo Blast, Aug. 4, 2 p.m.; jigsaw puzzle challenge, Aug. 11,10 a.m.; veterans education seminar, Aug. 18, 10 a.m.; and an art show, Aug. 25, 10 a.m. Birch Heights is located at 7 Kendall Pond Road, Derry. Renew clothing giveaway planned

Renew Clothing Closet, a ministry of Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Road, offers a free, gently used clothing giveaway on Aug. 4 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Senior picnic planned Aug. 29

Derry Parks and Recreation hosts a summer senior picnic on Aug. 29 from noon to 2 p.m. at Gallien’s Town Beach, Route 102.

The menu includes barbecue basics provided by Parks and Recreation. Each participant is asked to bring a dish to share.

A ticket is necessary to attend, but attendance is free. Call Parks and Recreation for information at 432-6136.

Annual Rotary auction is coming up

The Derry Rotary Club hosts its annual benefit auction on Aug. 25 at 9 a.m. at the Fireye parking lot on Tsienneto Road.

The club has hosted the fundraising auction for more than 35 years. Donations of good used furniture, sporting goods, household items, lawn and garden tools, and electronics are being collected.
