---- — Feeling pig-headed

A protestor from stood in front of Hood Middle School last week in advance of a visit from U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and New England Patriots’ standout Vince Wilfork.

The group wants to see Pentagon spending reduced — a lot.

Fortunately for the pig, the school lunch menu featured American chop suey that day.

In self defense?

A Honda Element spotted heading south on Interstate 93 last week sported the vanity license plate, “THE-FIFTH.”

Is the owner a defense attorney? A constitutional expert? Or, maybe, a bartender ...

Licensed for love

Vincent Ferdinando, patriarch of the J&F Farms family in Derry, wants people to know just exactly when he married his soulmate Miriam almost 61 years ago.

The couple drive around town with their own brand of romance on a vanity license plate, “MAY-52,” to let everyone know their love is here to stay.

Doggone lucky

A dog went through the ice Monday morning off Eastview Road.

The dog, which wasn’t identified, broke through some thin ice in a marshy area, according to Derry firefighters.

Firefighter Chris Beldin made a quick rescue, going into the water with a rescue line.

The dog’s owner didn’t want to talk about the experience, although he was grateful his pet was saved.

We don’t know the dog’s name, but we’ve dubbed him Lucky.
