---- — Trick-or-treat tonight
Derry and Londonderry families will be out and about tonight for trick-or-treat fun. Derry’s hours are 6 to 7:30 p.m. In Londonderry, little ghouls and goblins can take to the streets from 5 to 8 p.m. Police in both town urge families and children to play it safe this Halloween night.
A man was spotted in Chester near the intersection of Routes 121 and 121A taking care of some much-needed lawn work at his home. His self-propelled mower seemed to have a mind of its own as it moved slowly across the lawn alone, while the man followed at a safe distance, picking up sticks along the way.
Losing their heads
A local salon is gearing up for not only big business, but also spooky Halloween fun. A large grouping of salon training heads was spotted at the Water’s Edge Salon landscape, heads with full hair stuck on small posts in the ground, creating a rather ghoulish, but attractive scene.
An exterior sign invited people stop by for some hair-raising help.
The wave continues
The home of Robert Young on Chester Road is still sporting a life-sized silhouette of the man and his iconic “wave.”
Young, who died in September 2012, was known for his almost daily waving to passing cars as he sat near his home and vast gardens. Young’s silhouette is often dressed for the season and this week is wearing a spooky skull shirt just in time for Halloween.
Hair’s to the Sox
Another local business was all about the Red Sox this week. Shellie’s Butcher Shop on Crystal Avenue had a sign that honored the Sox and their facial hair as well.
“Blood, sweat and beards! Go Sox!” the sign read.
