DERRY — The holidays are here.
What better gift is there than those of compassion, giving and friendship?
The Derry News Santa Fund will be collecting donations again this year to give holiday hope to those families and individuals in the Greater Derry area who may need a boost this season.
The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce will help support the Santa Fund this year and hosts its 2012 Wreath Stroll on Dec. 12 during the Chamber’s holiday open house.
Members and guests from the business community will be invited to stop by the Chamber office at 29 West Broadway and view handcrafted wreaths, created by organizations and groups in the community.
All proceeds during the silent wreath auction will go to support the Santa Fund.
“The proceeds will go directly to the fund, providing much needed support to local families throughout Derry and Londonderry,” Chamber executive director Stacey Bruzzese said in a letter to businesses, inviting them to be part of the auction.
Business owners were invited to create original wreaths that show their company logo and type.
Wreaths will be displayed beginning Nov. 24, the same day as the holiday parade. Everyone who visits the Chamber office that day can start bidding on their favorite.
The Santa Fund invites everyone to consider giving this season. One hundred percent of the money raised goes directly to the Derry Community Fund, helping those in need for more than 40 years.
Tax-deductible donations can be mailed to: Derry News Santa Fund, P.O. Box 307, Derry, 03038, or can be dropped off at the newspaper office at 46 West Broadway.
