Dog obedience lesson

Philene Lyons came out to vote in Derry last week and brought along her best friend, Lucky, to help support their favorite candidate.

Lucky, a 3-year-old Bansenji, sported a green felt coat with the words “Coyle” embroidered on it. She was supporting Kevin Coyle, a Derry candidate for county commissioner.

“Obey the dog!” Lyons called out as people entered the polling place.

The tactic must have worked; Coyle ended up winning in Derry. he was the top GOP vote-getter in the race and advances to the November ballot.

Color their world

Water’s Edge hopes to add a little color of its own this fall.

The Derry salon posted a sign inviting customers to come inside and try some colorful treatments.

“Fall foliage ... it’s not just for the trees,” the sign said.

Keeps on running

Longtime Derry Supervisor of the Checklist official Roland Routhier said he loves his job and plans to keep going.

The 86-year-old has held his checklist job for about 12 years and doesn’t intend to slow down.

“I’ll be up for re-election in 2018, when I’m 92,” he said. “And I will run again.”

Patriots fanatic

A blue Dodge pickup truck was seen cruising down Nashua Road last week. The truck sported a dozen New England Patriots’ stickers.

The vanity license plate read, #1PATSFN. Unfortunately for the driver, the Patriots lost their home-opener to the Arizona Cardinals.

You wascal!

A resident on Josephine Drive in Londonderry reported a “No Hunting” sign had been stolen.

Residents are advised to keep a lookout for Elmer Fudd.
