With fanfare, parades, silent moments and 21-gun salutes, the area's fallen veterans were honored on Memorial Day.
Those veterans still living came out for annual observances in Derry and Londonderry.
Those fallen during the nation's wars and conflicts were remembered with memorial wreaths, prayers and stories.
Derry kicked off its Memorial Day with a parade following by traditional services in MacGregor Park. Local students left wreaths at the park's monuments to honor those who served.
In Londonderry, another parade marched down Mammoth Road en route to a local cemetery for a salute with rifles, following by services at the Town Common.
Veterans in Derry were honored May 24 with a cookout and awards dinner hosted by both the Derry Rotary and Derry Village Rotary Clubs.
Rotarians said they would make the veterans night an annual event to make sure the area's veterans are honored and celebrated.
