Candidates line up for Derry Town Council seats
DERRY — All three Derry Town Council seats are being contested this year. Voters will have choices when they head to the polls March 9.
Two incumbents are not seeking re-election.
Douglas Newell, James Webb and Joel Olbricht are running for the three-year councilor-at-large seat.
In District 2, the candidates are Frank Farris, Frank Santiago, David Milz and Tom Cardon.
Incumbent Brian Chirichiello is seeking re-election in District 4. He is being challenged by Joseph DiChiaro and Albert Dimmock.

After the Londonderry Charter Commission voted 6-3 to go ahead with putting a question to voters in 2011 about changing from Town Meeting to ballot voting, Commissioner Steve Young, who was one of the three nays, said, "This is the day the music died." -
Londonderry voters to decide future of Town Meeting
Voters will decide in March whether to break with tradition and move to ballot-style voting. If they opt for the change, it would take effect in 2012 and Town Meeting would be history in Londonderry.

Derry's oldest resident was pretty in pink when she celebrated a milestone birthday Monday. Catherine Dion turned 109 on July 26 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, where she is a resident.
