LONDONDERRY — The School Board will hold its deliberative session Friday at 7 p.m. in Londonderry High School's cafeteria.
A quorum of 500 registered voters must attend to make any amendments to the warrant articles, otherwise they will go to the March 9 ballot as written. The deliberative session will explain and discuss all warrant articles except for the election of officers. There are no contested school races this year.
The $63,472,328 budget proposed by the School Board is $341,844 below default. It represents a 2.39 percent increase over this year's budget, representing a tax rate of $12.16, which is a 50-cent tax increase on the general fund budget.
Other warrant articles to be presented include a vote to approve the cost items included in the collective bargaining agreement between the school district and the support staff. That article would raise $60,727, representing the additional cost items attributable to the increase in salaries and benefits over those paid at current staffing levels.
If that article is defeated, voters would authorize the School Board to hold a special meeting.
There's also a proposed amendment to school district charter to lower the number of registered voters necessary for a quorum at the deliberative session from 500 to 350. If approved, it would take effect next year.
There's an article to support funds for school lunch and federal projects.
A special article asks for an expandable maintenance trust fund of $550,000.
Another article asks voters to appropriate $7,000 for the high school's robotics team.
