Sonshine could use some donations

DERRY — Sonshine Soup Kitchen, which serves free hot meals five days a week, could use some donations.

Their food needs include regular coffee, Parmesan cheese, canned pears, fruit cocktail, peaches and pineapple, applesauce, Mrs. Dash spices, canned beets, carrots, corn, peas and mixed vegetables, disposable black pepper shakers, canned chicken, shelf stable milk, barbecue sauce and hearty, low-sodium soups.

Clothing needs include new socks and underwear, all sizes, for men, women and children.

Other needs include gift cards to local supermarkets for the Meal Program, 81/2-by-11-inch white and colored copy paper, gallon size Ziploc bags, liquid dishwasher detergent, Styrofoam and paper bowls, cold cups, three-compartment delivery containers, disposable cutlery, napkins and 13-gallon kitchen trash bags.

Sonshine’s “wish list” includes a portable projector and a laminating machine.

Sonshine is located at 4 Crystal Ave., Suite 4. It’s open Monday through Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. Call 437-2833.

Free community meals on tap in April

DERRY — There are lots of free community meals planned this month.

On Thursday, April 17, dinner will be served at West Running Brook School, 1 West Running Brook Lane, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Dinner will be served on Saturday, April 19, at St. Luke’s Church, 63 East Broadway, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

On Sunday, April 20, lunch will be served at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 7 Brook St. at noon.

It’s spaghetti for supper on Friday, April 25, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at First Parish Congregational Church, 47 East Derry Road, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

On Sunday, April 27, lunch will be served at noon at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 7 Brook St.

Finally, on April 27, dinner will be served at Etz Hayim Synagogue, 11/2 Hood Road, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
