Library tailors programs for teens

DERRY — Derry Public Library has plenty of options for teenage patrons.

On Thursday, Oct. 11, the Teen Advisory Group will meet from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

This group meets once a month for one hour to discuss the teen space. Participants talk about and plan teen programs, create displays, set up presenters and organize events for teens.

Teens are invited to Cafe Days every other Tuesday. The next one will be Oct. 22 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Drink chai, hot cider, tea or hot chocolate and chat about writing, books, art, games and more. This is an open forum and all are welcome. Bring something you’re working on if you like. Crafts, cards and games will be provided.

The Writers Group will meet two Wednesdays, Oct. 16 and 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Do you like to write? Do you like to listen to stories? Would you like to learn about story craft and story elements, or just have fun using your imagination?

The Teen Writers Group has all of that. This club is full of imagination, fun and laughter. Come ready to read, or just stop in to relax and listen.

Check out the teen Cooking Club Oct. 15 and 29 from 3 to 4:15 p.m. The club meets every other Tuesday to make delicious food, hang out with friends and eat snacks.

Participants will celebrate the harvest with roasted butternut squash soup, crustless apple pie, hot mulled cider, pumpkin whoopee pies and chicken pot pie.

Plan ahead and get some SAT essay help.

There will be an SAT Essay Prep session Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Are you taking the SATs this fall? Swing by for a final study session before the big day. Participants will take two practice essay tests and go over how to make it happen in 25 minutes, keep it organized, and what to look for when you are revising.
