Lady Astros have new basketball coach
DERRY — After 15 years as head coach of Pinkerton Academy varsity girls basketball, John Barry has resigned. He leaves with a coaching record of 250-80.
Barry has done an outstanding job taking the girls basketball program and making it one of the elite girls basketball programs in New Hampshire Division 1, athletic director Tim Powers said.
Taking on the new role of head coach is Lani Buskey, who has been with the girls basketball program for the past 10 seasons as a JV coach and varsity assistant.
A former player in the program, Buskey now takes over looking to continue the traditions of Pinkerton.
‘Throwback Throwdown’ comes to Derry Sept. 28
DERRY — New England Championship Wrestling brings its brand of live professional wrestling to Derry Saturday, Sept. 28, at Sportszone, 7 A St. with a 7 p.m. bell time.
Proceeds benefit SZ United Soccer Club, a children’s soccer program.
The event, “Throwback Throwdown,” will feature three legends of professional wrestling, WWE Hall of Famers Tito Santana, “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas and former WWE star “Dangerous” Danny Davis.
There will be a special pre-show fan fest beginning at 4 p.m. where fans can meet the stars, get pictures and autographs. The fan fest is free with an admission ticket to the event.
Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Kids age 12 and younger are admitted for $10 each. There is also a special VIP super tickets, which includes pictures and autographs with the three legends, as well as admission to the event itself.

High school bass tourneys move to fall for the future
A first-ever student bass fishing tournament last May drew 54 teams from 39 New Hampshire schools taking part. The high school bass fishing tournament will occur once each year in the fall in future years. The events are conducted by the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association.
