No kings allowed

When Lisa Marie Presley makes an appearance at the Tupelo Music Hall on June 15, there may be a lot of excitement for those hoping to meet Elvis’ daughter and hear her perform on the Londonderry venue’s stage.

But, no kings allowed. Anyone arriving dressed like the “King” himself or “King of Pop” Michael Jackson will not be allowed inside.

Speedy return

Londonderry police noted a recent 911 caller reporting a lost dog. But while on the phone, the dog returned. Unlike Lassie in the famed “Lassie Come Home” story, this Fido made a swifter return to his home turf.

Speak up

Londonderry resident Pauline Caron is often a regular fixture at the microphone during Town Council public forums. Recently, Caron was speaking to councilors about her concerns over the town budget.

Town Council Chairman John Farrell said he appreciated her input.

“That’s why you were named Volunteer of the Year,” Farrell told Caron. “It’s because you come here and speak up.”

Support the ‘stash’

Londonderry police Chief William Hart is sporting a bit more facial hair these days. So are other town officials.

It’s a show of solidarity for “March madness” and an effort to bring spring weather here more quickly. Hart said it’s been a tradition for the past several years.

“We grow a beard; we view it as public safety,” Hart said. “We’re hoping it works.”

Freeze affects everything

After Londonderry Town Manager Kevin Smith announced the town’s spending freeze, resident Reed Clark noted the announcement came on one of the week’s chilliest days.

“The spending freeze happened to come on the coldest day of the year,” Clark said, “which is appropriate.”
