DERRY — Anyone hoping to get rid of quality items for a good cause need look no further than the annual Derry Rotary Club auction.
This year's auction is set for Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. at Dave Allen Sales and Service on Manchester Road. The auction is a major fundraiser for the Derry club. Rotarians are now looking for items to put on the auction block.
It is the club's largest fundraiser and helps support the Rotarians' community projects and causes.
Every year, the auction brings in items like sports tickets, furniture, electronics, and gift certificates from area businesses and services. Novelty items — including the occasional mounted deer head or prized painting — might even be up for bid.
Most often, the summer auction brings out more than 100 bidding fans looking for a bargain.
The Derry Rotary Club donates regularly to the community and its causes, including scholarships, the Marion Gerrish Community Center and the Greater Derry Boys and Girls Club. The auction goes a long way toward helping that support continue.
Anyone with items to donate can call 425-1905. Pickup can be arranged.
