DERRY — The energetic Team Cancer Kickers from Derry Medical Center and Londonderry Family Practice don’t feel helpless in the face of cancer — they are doing something about it.
The team of a dozen-plus staff and family will be participating in the June 21 Relay for Life being held on the outdoor track at Pinkerton Academy.
Leading up to that event, money is being raised through ongoing raffles, bake sales and a massive yard sale and hot-dog grill event scheduled for Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Overlook Medical Park office of Derry Medical Center at 6 Tsienneto Road.
Donations for yard sale may be dropped off Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
Purchase raffle tickets at the yard sale or anytime from the Derry Medical Center front desk. There is a variety of prizes, including: a Google Chromebook by Samsung; a Nexus 7 Tablet; Zorvinos Wine Tasting Party for 20; two sets of tickets see the Bare Naked Ladies in concert in July; a July 4 basket; a wine basket; a gift card basket; and more.
Relay is so much more than just a walk around a track overnight. It is a chance to celebrate those who have won their battle against cancer, as well as to remember those who are no longer with us.
Team Cancer Kickers is all about supporting co-workers, family and friends who have shared this struggle.
