Derry detectives, school leaders honored

DERRY — Two police detectives, along with school officials, received praise from Gov. John Lynch.

The governor recently awarded commendations to Detectives Jon Breen and Kennedy Richard for their work with the school district on cyber bullying prevention.

Also being honored were South Range Elementary School principal Matt Olsen and the school's PTA unit.

Both Olsen and the PTA took top honors for top school administrator and PTA unit of the year, given by the New Hampshire Parent/Teacher Association.

Rep. Phyllis Katsakiores, R-Derry, awarded the certificates during the School Board meeting Feb. 14.

"We are most fortunate to have you in our community," Lynch wrote.

Katsakiores said the honors were well deserved

Olsen also took the time to honor South Range's top volunteer, Alicia Cartwright.

"Many things make up a school system, and volunteers are so important," School Board Chairman Kevin Gordon said. "It makes the school run much better."
