LONDONDERRY — The music continues north of Londonderry as a new Tupelo Music Hall is planned for a location in White River Junction, Vt.
Tupelo owner Scott Hayward announced plans to open a second Tupelo venue in Vermont, similar in style and programming to his popular Young Road location in Londonderry.
Last year, Hayward ventured into Salisbury, Mass., taking on the music management of the newly renovated Pavilion facility on the beach. But Hayward parted ways with the venue owners just five months after hosting Tupelo Salisbury's first concert.
The newest Tupelo is scheduled to open Oct. 1 in the historic Boston and Maine Freight House on South Main Street in White River Junction. Opening night band is Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams.
The site is a former freight station, now restored and set to house the newest Tupelo hall. The space will have 4,000 square feet of entertainment space with approximately 240 seats for concert-style seating and 140 seats for a more cabaret-style show with individual tables for guests.
Mike Davidson of Execusuite LLC of White River Junction owns the former railroad freight station.
The Tupelo opened in Londonderry six years ago in the space formerly known as the Muse at the Gray Goose. Performers gracing the Tupelo stage in past years include Squeeze, Richie Havens, Howard Jones, Arlo Guthrie, Pete Best, Colin Hay, Judy Collins, Paula Poundstone and Ellis Paul. The venue hosts regular comedy nights and open mike events highlighting area talent.
