Cowboy boots, bandanas and barbecue

LONDONDERRY — "Yee-hah," folks shouted across tables as they enjoyed a festive barbecue luncheon at the Londonderry Senior Center on Wednesday.

Dressed in cowboy boots, bandanas, checkered shirts and denim, more than 100 people attended the annual fundraiser for Londonderry Senior Citizens Inc.

There was a chuckwagon loaded up with hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chili, potato salad, cole slaw, corn on the cob and all the fixings. The event was coordinated by member Virginia Enos, who borrowed decorations from an organization in Goffstown. The cardboard cowboys, cactus and bales of hay decorated with horse saddles and checkered tablecloths put everyone in the mood for a hoedown.

John Stephen, who is running for U.S. Congress, and Sharon Carson, who is running for State Senate, joined in the fun as well as Rep. Frank Emiro, R-Londonderry.

After the meal, the crowd was treated to a line-dancing demonstration and then invited to join in with the center's line-dancing instructor Pauline Harvey.
