Annual health scholarships awarded

DERRY — The Alexander Eastman Foundation has awarded $21,200 in scholarships to people who, through their professions, have committed themselves to improving the health and well being of those in the Greater Derry Area.

The Alexander Eastman Foundation’s Health Professions Scholarship Program supports people who work in healthcare in area formerly served by the Alexander Eastman Hospital. Scholarships are awarded to students that currently work in the field of health care and are furthering their education or training.

This year’s recipients of the Alexander Eastman Health Professions Scholarship Program are:

Jennifer Byrd of Chester, employed by Pleasant Valley Nursing Home, to pursue licensure as a practical nurse at Salter School of Nursing and Allied Health.

Kaitlyn Cheney of Sandown, employed by Southern New Hampshire Health System at Pelham, to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Lori Child of Chester, an employee of Parkland Medical Center and a Volunteer with the Chester Fire Department, to renew her EMT certification.

Shirley Dawson of Plaistow, an employee of Hampstead Hospital, to pursue an Associate

Degree in Health Care Administration at Franklin Pierce University.

Amanda Day of Derry, employed by Parkland Internal Medicine, to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing at Rivier University.

Meaghan Lamothe of Hudson, an employee of Parkland Medical Center, to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of New Hampshire.

Genesis Niemiec of Manchester, an employee of The Elliot Breast Health Center in Londonderry, to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing at Manchester Community College

Maura Pennisi of Windham, an employee of Partners in Health, to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Assistive Technology and an Associate Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.

Laura Ruths-Smith of Milford, employed by Parkland Medical Center, to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Linda Saucier of Manchester, an employee of Amedisys Hospice in Londonderry, to pursue a

Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of New Hampshire.

Wendy Taylor of Derry, employed by Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing at Salter School of Nursing and Allied Health.
