Support Relay for Life benefit raffle

DERRY — Want to win tickets to a Heart concert, or to a Bare Naked Ladies concert? How about a Google Chromebook by Samsung or a Zorvinos wine tasting party for 20? These are just a few of the items available from the DMC Cancer Kickers’ fundraising raffles to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Leading up to the June 21 Relay for Life at Pinkerton Academy is a final fundraising event. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the party Saturday or at the front desk of Derry Medical Center, Overlook Medical Park, 6 Tsienneto Road, Derry.

A Little Black Dress party is set for Saturday, June 8 at the American Legion Hall, 5 Riverside St., Hooksett, from 6 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Every woman is encouraged to wear a little black dress, a la Audrey Hepburn, with a prize for the most fabulous shoes. No black dress? Wear anything that isn’t jeans— and bring your friends and significant other for dancing, door prizes, raffles and fun.

Last year, this Derry Medical Center staff team raised $12,000. Donate online at relayforlife.org and designate the team as Cancer Kickers of DMC or contact Erin Murphy, team captain, at emurphy@derrymedicalcenter.com for more information.

Blood donors needed throughout June

Three American Red Cross blood drives are scheduled in Londonderry and Derry this month.

The first is Tuesday, June 11, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Londonderry Lions Hall, 256 Mamoth Road.

That’s followed June 14 at St. Mark’s Church, 1 South Road in Londonderry. That drive also runs from 1 to 6 p.m.

Finally, on June 26, there will be a drive at Promises to Keep, 199 Rockingham Road in Derry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All eligible and new blood donors are encouraged to give blood. Blood donors are needed every day to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need.
